Adeola is a Senior Associate in the Litigation, Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution Practice Group in Banwo & Ighodalo with close to sixteen years of top-tier legal experience. She has over the years been regularly engaged as a dispute resolution practitioner in resolution of complex commercial arbitration disputes and litigation covering different sectors such as energy and natural resources, construction, manufacturing, telecommunication, fast moving consumer goods etc. and diverse subject matters including post-acquisition and divestments disputes, companies law litigation (i.e. shareholders’ disputes, shareholders’ minority protection actions, winding up proceedings), employment disputes, fraudulent schemes etc.
She has advised sophisticated commercial clients through the entire dispute resolution cycle i.e. from commencement of proceedings to judgments/awards and enforcements. As part of her commercial arbitration expertise, she successfully acted for a notable indigenous oil exploration and production company in respect of a dispute (giving rise to several arbitration and litigation matters) pertaining to the funding and operation of a marginal field. She was also a member of the team at Banwo & Ighodalo that recently represented a leading Nigerian telecommunication company in a long-standing enforcement of an arbitration award proceedings, which ultimately led to the payment of approximately USD 2,209,019 by the award debtor to the telecommunication company.
She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, UK and a Director of the Africa Construction Law, a pan -African construction law organisation focused on providing thought leadership on construction law and practice in Africa, amongst other laudable initiatives.
She speaks at arbitration and construction law related conferences from time to time and is passionate about writing on a wide range of legal issues, published in several Law reviews and journals.
