A Chartered Arbitrator and accredited mediator, John serves on the governing board of the International Council for Commercial Arbitration. He is ranked in Band 1: Dispute Resolution and Band 1: Arbitrator by Chambers & Partners and recognized among the Top 50 Arbitrators in Africa by Legal 500. Kenya has nominated him to the ICSID Panel of Arbitrators and the ICC Commission on Arbitration.

John has advised multinational corporations, NSE-listed companies, and Kenya’s largest state corporations. He has also provided expert opinions in courts in England, Wales, and the U.S. He served on the inaugural board of the Nairobi Centre for International Arbitration and chairs the Kenya Sports Disputes Tribunal.

Beyond law, he sits on several boards, is a Trustee of the M-PESA Foundation and helps direct the M-PESA Foundation Academy, supporting gifted but disadvantaged students in Kenya.
