Funke Adekoya, SAN, is an internationally recognised arbitrator with extensive experience in complex commercial, energy, and construction disputes and practices as an independent arbitrator based in Lagos, Nigeria.

She is a Chartered Arbitrator and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), and serves on the Advisory Board of the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA). She is also a Court Member of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), the Abu Dhabi International Arbitration Centre and a member of the Expert Committee of the China International Commercial Court (CICC).

She is listed on the Panel of Arbitrators of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), as well as on the panels of several leading arbitral institutions worldwide and has sat as presiding, sole, and co-arbitrator in high-value disputes under the ICC, LCIA, ICSID, and UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules.

Her practice has involved her in construction and infrastructure disputes, particularly those arising from large-scale projects in emerging markets, often involving complex contractual frameworks and multi-party dynamics. She also has significant experience in energy-related disputes and investor-State arbitration.

She is consistently ranked as a leading practitioner in global directories including GAR, Chambers Global, and Lexology, where she is recognised as a Thought Leader in arbitration. She is also featured in the Mute Off Thursdays Compendium of Unicorns – A Global Guide to Women Arbitrators.

In recognition of her contributions to arbitration, she was awarded Arbitrator/ADR Practitioner of the Year by the African Arbitration Association in 2020 and was named among Africa’s 20 Arbitration Powerlist by the Africa Arbitration Academy in 2022.

She is dual-qualified as a legal practitioner in Nigeria and as a solicitor (non-practising) in England and Wales.
