Adeola Agunbiade-Adeyemi

Ms. Agunbiade-Adeyemi is a Senior Associate at Banwo & Ighodalo, a top-tier commercial law firm in Lagos. She regularly advises on contractual breaches arising from complex commercial transactions, enforcement of shareholders’ rights, construction disputes and expropriation of economic rights. She has been engaged in multi-jurisdictional litigation and complex international commercial arbitration disputes.

Ms. Agunbiade-Adeyemi has been involved in major arbitration proceedings in Nigeria in the last eight years. For instance, she was involved in the widely-publicized Econet Wireless shareholders dispute which birthed series of arbitration proceedings in Nigeria and ensuing challenge proceedings before the Nigerian courts. In 2014, she was also involved in an energy dispute bothering on an alleged breach of an oil field unit agreement which eventually resorted to arbitration proceedings and interim measure proceedings before the Nigerian courts.

Currently, she is a key member of the Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution Practice group in Banwo& Ighodalo, where amongst other roles, regularly conducts arbitration hearings in arbitral proceedings.

Recently, she was a key member of the team which represented a foremost Nigerian construction company in recovering sums owed by an employer under a FIDIC based construction contract of a cement plant. The dispute birthed series of DAB proceedings and LCIA arbitration.

Adeola is also passionate about writing on a wide range of legal issues. Her articles have been published in reputable Law reviews and journals.
