Dr. Bernd Ehle

Bernd is a Swiss and German qualified arbitration partner in LALIVE’s Geneva office. He has acted as counsel and arbitrator in more than 100 high-stakes disputes conducted under most of the major arbitration rules and governed by civil and common law.

Bernd advises and represents clients in complex disputes, particularly in relation to large-scale infrastructure and construction projects and intricate joint venture agreements. Bernd is passionate about dispute resolution and related capacity building in Africa, where much of his work takes place.

Bernd co-chairs the Construction Group of the German Arbitration Institute (DIS) and has been giving a lecture on international construction contracts (including dispute resolution) to LL.M. students at the law faculty of the University of Fribourg in Switzerland for over ten years. He is also a Member of the Arbitration Court of the Swiss Arbitration Centre and serves on the Executive Committee of the Foundation for International Arbitration Advocacy (FIAA).

Bernd is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb). He holds a PhD in Law from the University of Heidelberg in Germany and an LL.M. from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law in Chicago, United States.
