Wihan Meintjes is an associate in the litigation, arbitration and dispute resolution practice at Allen & Overy (South Africa) LLP, in Johannesburg. He is admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa and serves clients in the energy, mining, environmental, infrastructure and financial services fields. Wihan has experience in a wide range of contentious matters in South Africa, across the African continent (including Mozambique, Botswana, Ghana and Nigeria) and globally, including in the Middle East.Â
Recent matter highlights include ICSID arbitration proceedings on behalf of a foreign government in a bilateral treaty dispute with various complex underlying construction disputes;
advising on several EPC contractor claims in multi-billion (US) dollar refinery projects; settlement of a range of subcontract/supplier, performance and payment disputes arising from large scale wind farm projects; and a large scale complex fraud on behalf of a foreign investment entity, including enforcement advice and asset tracing, across a number of jurisdictions.Â
